Biography
Hugh McIver was a Glaswegian who joined the Royal Scots and, through quiet determination, earned the respect of his platoon; in May 1918 he was awarded the Victoria Cross for leading his men through machine-gun fire to protect his comrades.
He fell a few weeks later on the Western Front and now lies in Vraucourt Copse Cemetery, a place of remembrance for the bravery he showed in France.
