Biography

Hugo, Hereditary Count and Altgrave of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Raitz (1776–1836) was a naturalist and nobleman of the Holy Roman Empire and later the German Confederation. His life spanned the period of the Empire's dissolution and the subsequent reorganization of German territories, during which he maintained his family's prominence and scholarly pursuits.

As a naturalist, Hugo contributed to the scientific endeavors of his time, combining his aristocratic status with genuine intellectual engagement in the study of nature. He was laid to rest in the Salm Cemetery, a burial place reflecting his family's historical significance and social standing.
