Biography
Hugo Salus was born in 1866 and spent his career blending the rigors of medicine with the sensibilities of a writer, offering thoughtful reflections on health, society, and the inner lives of his patients. As a physician he provided care marked by gentleness and listening, while his essays and poetry helped articulate the hopes and anxieties of his time.
When he died in 1929, he was interred at Olšany Cemetery, where his grave invites visitors to remember a healer whose compassion extended beyond the clinic into the wider world of letters.
