Biography
Hunter Liggett rose through the ranks of the United States Army with a steady intellect and a steady hand, serving in a variety of assignments from the frontier to the building of modern training systems. During World War I he took command of the First Army, guiding large-scale operations that helped bring the Meuse-Argonne Offensive to completion.
After the war he continued to support the Army’s diplomatic and organizational efforts, leaving a record of thoughtful leadership that honored the trust placed in him by his fellow citizens.
