Ichabod Smith Spencer

Biography

Ichabod Smith Spencer (1780–1857), noted religious leader and educator, guided many through the early 19th-century revival of American Protestantism. His sermons were marked by compassion and a firm commitment to moral clarity, and he devoted immense energy to mentoring young ministers and strengthening local schools.

He closed his life of service in 1857 and was interred at Forest Hill Cemetery, where his steadfast faith and lasting influence on congregations and students alike continue to be remembered with gratitude.
