Biography

Born in 1846 into a household where music and scholarship were cherished, Ignaz Brüll began his training in Vienna and soon became known for recitals that combined luminous pianism with eloquent composition.

His catalog, which ranged from salon pieces to stage works, reflected both the intimacy of Viennese gatherings and the sweep of Romantic expression, and in lifelong friendships with colleagues such as Johannes Brahms he found inspiration to champion beauty and compassion through sound.
