Labor Organizer
Biography
Irving Potash devoted himself to labor organizing at a time when workers sought a stronger voice, traveling from factory floor to union hall to explain the power of solidarity. He worked tirelessly to improve safety and fairness, always returning to Chicago neighborhoods to listen to the concerns of families who relied on steady paychecks.
The Haymarket Martyrs' Monument now stands near the place where he once rallied men and women, a reminder that his insistence on dignity and shared responsibility helped win protections that are still enjoyed today.
