Isaac E. Avery

Biography

Isaac E. Avery lived during one of the most turbulent periods in American history. Born in 1828, he came of age during a time of increasing sectional tensions and ultimately witnessed the outbreak of the Civil War.

Avery's life ended in 1863, during the height of the conflict. He was interred at Washington Confederate Cemetery, reflecting his connection to the Confederate cause during America's greatest constitutional crisis.
