Biography
Isaac W. Van Schaick, born in 1817 in New York, became a successful Milwaukee businessman and civic leader whose efforts in transport and public works propelled the city forward while he also served multiple terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.
He guided federal legislation that supported Great Lakes commerce and remained involved in charitable endeavors until his retirement and burial in Athens Rural Cemetery.
