Biography

Isabella Erskine was a longstanding member of the St Cuthbert’s congregation whose gentle hospitality welcomed visitors to the parish pews. She nurtured friendships across generations, and her warm presence soothed those seeking guidance in a changing Edinburgh.

Always ready to help coordinate charitable meals or to sit with the infirm, Isabella made her faith tangible through thoughtful deeds. When she died in 1827, the community recalled a woman whose presence made the church more hospitable and whose kindness lingered with the congregation.
