Biography

Israel Israel (1746–1822) lived a long life spanning the American Revolution and the early decades of the republic. His years encompassed tremendous change and growth in the young nation, and he witnessed the transformation of his community across nearly eight decades.

Israel's memory is honored at Laurel Hill Cemetery, where he rests among his contemporaries. His long life provided him with a unique perspective on the development of American society during its most formative years.
