Biography
Israel Leplevsky was a Soviet military officer born in 1896 who served in various capacities within the Red Army and security apparatus. He was an active participant in Soviet military and political structures during the formative years of the Soviet state.
Leplevsky was executed in 1938 during the Great Purge and his remains were disposed of at Kommunarka shooting ground, becoming one of many victims of the political repressions of that period.
