Biography

István Lipót Gách (1880–1962) was a Hungarian painter who contributed to the visual arts during the early twentieth century. His artistic career spanned the late Austro-Hungarian period through the post-World War II era, a time of significant transformation in Hungarian cultural expression.

Gách's eighty-two years of life allowed him to witness and participate in the evolution of Hungarian painting. His artistic legacy is preserved in Hungarian cultural memory, and he is honored at Farkasréti Cemetery in Budapest, a final resting place for many of Hungary's distinguished artists and cultural figures.
