István Mezei played water polo with fierce dedication, honoring the teamwork and discipline the sport demands. His presence in the pool inspired both teammates and rivals to strive for excellence, demonstrating that victory is forged through mutual trust.

Retired from competition, he shared stories of perseverance with younger generations, leaving behind memories as fluid and enduring as the waters where he once excelled; he rests in Óbuda Cemetery.
