Biography
Ivan Chernik (1811–1874) was a Russian architect whose designs and constructions shaped the urban landscape of nineteenth-century Russia. His work reflected the architectural styles and building practices of the mid-nineteenth century during a period of urban development.
Chernik's sixty-three-year career spanned the reigns of Nicholas I and Alexander II, periods of significant architectural activity in Russia. He was laid to rest in Novodevichy Cemetery, honoring his contributions to Russian architecture and urban design.
