Ivan Meshchersky

Biography

Ivan Meshchersky (1775–1851) was a Russian landlord and nobleman whose life reflected the privileges and responsibilities of the provincial gentry during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. As a landowner, he would have been involved in the management of estates and the oversight of serfs, typical of his social class during this period.

Meshchersky's burial at Novodevichy Convent, a place of great spiritual and social significance in Russian Orthodox tradition, suggests his piety and standing within Moscow society.
