1900–1970 (age 70)
Biography
Born in 1900 in the Caucasus, Ivane Bakradze came of age in the waning days of the Russian Empire and helped to organize the defence of an independent Georgia as a young officer in the struggle that followed the First World War.
When Soviet forces absorbed his homeland, he joined the Georgian émigré community in France, where he spent decades in Leuville-sur-Orge preserving the memory of those years, mentoring younger compatriots, and keeping faith with the ideals that had guided his military service.
