Jabez Upham

Biography

Born in the mid-1760s in Massachusetts, Jabez Upham studied law and helped guide his community through the nation’s formative years, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives as his fellow citizens navigated the challenges of a new republic.

After he left federal office he returned to his legal practice and continued to counsel neighbors until his death in 1811; his remains lie at Pine Grove Cemetery, where friends still honor his steady public service.
