Biography

Jack Cornwell's short life was defined by courage, discipline, and a deep sense of duty when he joined the Royal Navy as a young boy and faced the harrowing Battle of Jutland in 1916. Though mortally wounded, he stayed at his post and refused to leave, inspiring his shipmates with the steady gaze of a child who understood the weight of responsibility.

His sacrifice brought honour to his family and the nation; he was awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously and now lies beneath The John Travers Cornwell VC Memorial and Family Grave Marker, a place where visitors can remember the bravery of a boy who gave everything for his shipmates.
