Biography

Jacob Alexander Preston was born in 1796 and lived through the early decades of the American republic. He witnessed the growth and development of his nation from the early years of independence through the mid-nineteenth century.

Preston passed away in 1868 at an advanced age and was laid to rest at Saint George's Episcopal Church Cemetery. His long life connected the Revolutionary era to the post-Civil War period, spanning more than seven decades of American history.
