1768–1842 (age 74)

Biography

Jacob Flindt, born in 1768, rose through the ranks of the Danish military to become an officer who navigated the uncertain Napoleonic era with measured judgment, training soldiers and helping to defend the kingdom's coasts and fortifications.

He balanced stern discipline with a personal concern for the well-being of his men, leaving colleagues with admiration for his steadiness, and his grave at Nordre Kirkegård speaks to a life bound to the service of his country until 1842.
