Biography

Jacob M. Ellis, born in 1809, was a devoted member of the Fair Hill Meeting whose life reflected the Quaker values of simplicity, integrity, and service. He gave attention to the material and spiritual needs of his fellow worshippers and was often called upon to offer measured counsel during meetings and in the broader Philadelphia community.

His faithful presence, preserved in Fair Hill Burial Ground, continues to inspire Quakers who appreciate the gentle strength of those who work behind the scenes to sustain peace and charity.
