Biography
Jacob Thompson (1810-1885) rose from Tennessee roots to serve the nation as Secretary of the Interior, working to balance the expanding needs of the frontier with the responsibilities of federal stewardship.
After returning to Mississippi he remained a trusted counselor, offering legal and moral guidance to younger men of the profession, and he now rests among the stately trees of Elmwood Cemetery.
