Biography
Jacob Walker was a domestic worker who lived and labored during the early nineteenth century, contributing through his daily work to the comfort and maintenance of the households he served. Born in 1802, he embodied the dignity and importance of domestic service in his era.
Though his station in life was modest, his memory was preserved alongside that of his companion Harriet Long in the churchyard of the Old Parish Church of St Mary, a testament to the respect and affection in which he was held by his community.
