Biography

Jacques Barraband was a French naturalist whose work contributed to the scientific understanding of the natural world during the late eighteenth century. Born in 1767, he dedicated himself to the study and documentation of nature, participating in the scientific revolution that characterized the Enlightenment.

Barraband's contributions to natural science earned him recognition among the intellectual circles of his time. He was laid to rest at Cimetière de Loyasse in Lyon in 1809, his life cut short but his dedication to advancing human knowledge of the natural world remembered.
