Biography
Jacques Knecht was a Malgré-nous, one of the Alsatian men conscripted into the German military during World War II against their will. His experience reflects the tragic circumstances faced by many Alsatians during the Nazi occupation.
Knecht's brief life was marked by the extraordinary challenges of wartime conscription. He died in 1945 and was laid to rest in Cimetière Nord de Strasbourg, a solemn memorial to those who suffered under occupation.
