Biography

Jakob Mayer was born in 1854 and became an established member of the Brno Jewish community during the latter half of the 19th century. He lived through the final decades of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and into the early years of the Czechoslovak state before his death in 1919.

Mayer's life reflected the experiences of Central European Jews during a period of significant historical change and transition. He is remembered through his place in the Jewish cemetery in Brno, where he was laid to rest among members of his community.
