James B. Hammond

Biography

James B. Hammond, born in 1839, drew strength from the teachings of the Elmsford Reformed Church and devoted himself to supporting the congregation and neighbors with measured counsel, always striving to live the compassion he cherished.

He remained active in the rhythms of the church community and in family gatherings, and when he passed in 1913 he was buried in the adjacent Elmsford Reformed Church and Cemetery as a cherished part of that spiritual family.
