James B. McPherson

Biography

James B. McPherson (1828–1864) was a career soldier who rose to the rank of major general in the Union Army, earning admiration for his calm judgment and steady command during the Civil War.

Even in the face of grave danger, he remained devoted to the cause of preserving the nation, and his courage is remembered by many who visit McPherson Cemetery to honor his service.
