Biography
James Benton Grant, trained as a mining engineer, helped build Colorado's smelter industry and advocated for the state's economic development before winning election as its third governor, guiding the young state through the aftermath of labor unrest and the challenges of rapid growth.
After leaving office he continued to champion mining innovation and civic institutions in Denver, and he now rests at Fairmount Cemetery as a reminder of the optimism that shaped the Centennial State.
