Biography
James Breck Perkins earned a national reputation as a historian of Spain, publishing richly detailed studies such as Spain under Charles V and The Spanish Story that opened American eyes to the political and cultural currents of the Iberian world.
He also served with distinction as a United States Representative from New York, bringing the same scholarly thoroughness to legislation and to the promotion of education and historical scholarship, leaving his final rest at Mount Hope Cemetery.
