James Buchanan

Biography

James Buchanan (1785–1857) was a respected ecclesiastical figure who served as Dean, holding a position of considerable responsibility within the Church of Scotland. His tenure as Dean reflected his standing within the religious hierarchy and his commitment to the administration and spiritual leadership of his cathedral or collegiate church.

Buchanan's career in the church spanned several decades of the 19th century, during which he contributed to the ecclesiastical governance and pastoral care of his institution. He was laid to rest at Dean Cemetery, a burial ground befitting his status and his lifelong dedication to the church.
