James Cheape
1795–1841 (age 46)
Biography
James Cheape answered the call of the sea in the early years of the nineteenth century, dedicating his strength to the Royal Navy at a time when Britain relied on steady hands and level heads afloat.
His service brought comfort to crews who trusted him to steer through storms and quiet days alike, and the memories of that steadfast leadership rest now with the community of Strathmiglo where he was laid to rest.
