Biography

James Dole was a pioneering fruit industrialist who transformed Hawaii's agricultural landscape in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in 1877, he founded the Hawaiian Pineapple Company and became instrumental in developing large-scale pineapple cultivation on the islands, making the fruit a major export commodity.

Dole's innovations in agricultural business practices and his vision for Hawaii's economic development left a lasting legacy on the islands. He passed away in 1958 and was laid to rest at Makawao Cemetery, remembered as a visionary entrepreneur who shaped modern Hawaiian agriculture.
