James E. Bell

Biography

James E. Bell was born in 1845 and spent his life strengthening the bonds of his neighborhood, helping to rebuild civic life in the aftermath of national conflict and encouraging commercial and personal ties among his neighbors.

He became known as a generous figure who welcomed young people into opportunities for work and always found time for a kind word as he rests in Oak Hill Cemetery.
