James Eckford Lauder, brother of Robert, made his mark as a painter of portraits and historical scenes infused with sincere character and attention to detail, exhibiting his work in London and Scotland and studying in Italy to refine his craft.
He remained devoted to the artistic community that nurtured him, encouraging fair representation of his sitters and enriching the cultural heritage preserved at Warriston Cemetery.
