James G. Blaine (1830–1893) was a leading Republican statesman and one of the most prominent political figures of the Gilded Age. He served as Speaker of the House of Representatives and later as U.S. Secretary of State, where he played a significant role in American foreign policy. His career reflected the political dynamism and ambition of the late nineteenth century.
