Psychologist/Parapsychologist

Biography

James H. Hyslop was a pioneering psychologist who embraced rigorous study and later became a leading voice in early parapsychology, exploring the boundaries between mind, spirit, and science. His academic pursuits at Columbia University and elsewhere promoted the careful investigation of psychic phenomena with a scientific temper.

Hyslop’s work inspired subsequent researchers to balance skepticism with openness, and his thoughtful leadership left a lasting impression on both psychology and the Society for Psychical Research; he is remembered at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
