Biography
James Henry Lane rose from humble beginnings to become a fierce advocate for the Free State cause in Kansas, helping to secure its admission to the Union and serving with determination as one of the state's first U.S. Senators.
He also led troops for the Union during the Civil War and, after enduring the burdens of those years, was laid to rest with military honors at Oak Hill Cemetery, where his legacy of courage continues to be remembered.
