Biography

James Johnston Waring was born in 1829 and spent his years in and around Savannah, Georgia, where he became part of the close-knit circle of citizens whose efforts kept the city moving through difficult times. Though the particulars of his vocation have faded, his final resting place at Bonaventure Cemetery testifies to the respect afforded him by his neighbors.

He lived through the upheaval of sectional conflict and the challenge of rebuilding, and those who knew him remembered his calm steadiness and the quiet way he supported his community during Reconstruction.
