James Madison Bowler

Biography

James Madison Bowler was born in 1838 and came of age as the nation itself was evolving, cultivating a reputation as a steady and thoughtful presence in the Cleveland area. He lived through the trials of the Civil War and the rapid industrial transformation that followed, remaining deeply connected to his neighbors and their shared institutions.

Bowler passed in 1916, leaving behind relatives and friends who remembered him for his calm demeanor and reliable friendship; he was laid to rest at Lakewood Cemetery, where his memory continues to be honored.
