Biography
Born in 1869, James Malindine made his name as a confectioner whose shop became a gathering place in Manor Park, bringing sweetness to daily life and providing steady work for neighbors who joined him in preparing treats for holidays and relief drives.
He took pride in returning the profits to the community, sponsoring children's outings and lending a sympathetic ear to families facing hardship, so that when he died in 1943 people remembered both the care packages he distributed and the gentle welcome he offered at the counter, and his memory rests at Manor Park Cemetery and Crematorium.
