Biography
James Philemon Holcombe was a learned lawyer and educator whose lectures opened windows onto the law for countless Virginians and instilled in them a seriousness about civic duty.
He kept alive a devotion to thoughtful discussion and to the work of mentoring young minds, leaving behind colleagues and students who still feel the influence of his guidance as they visit his grave at Presbyterian Cemetery.
