Born in 1833, James Thomas Murfee was a lifelong resident of the Marion area, a region he served through steady labor and a generosity of spirit that friends recalled with warmth. Murfee died in 1912 and rests at Marion Cemetery, leaving behind a memory of practical kindness and an abiding loyalty to the place he called home.
