Biography
Jan Martinek was born in 1901 in Brno and made his livelihood as a bookseller, a profession that connected him to the intellectual and cultural life of the city. He was part of the generation that came of age during the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic and witnessed the interwar period of relative stability and cultural flourishing.
Martinek's work as a bookseller placed him at the heart of Brno's cultural community during a significant period in the city's history. He was laid to rest in the Brno Central Cemetery, where his memory is preserved among the notable figures of his generation.
