Biography
Jan Šíma (1887–1960) was a Czech individual whose life extended through some of the most significant periods in modern Czech history. Born in the late Austro-Hungarian era, he witnessed the creation of Czechoslovakia and the subsequent transformations of the twentieth century.
Šíma's memory is preserved at Olšany Cemetery, Prague's historic burial ground, where he rests among many other figures of cultural and historical importance to the Czech nation.
