Biography
Jan Śniadecki combined his passion for astronomy with a dedication to teaching, publishing influential works on celestial mechanics and introducing modern scientific methods to the University community. As rector, he encouraged the construction of observatories and saw science as a way to elevate the civic life of the Grand Duchy.
His writings on meteorology and mathematics inspired generations of students, and the estate at Jašiūnai keeps alive the memory of a scholar who bridged curiosity and public service.
