Jane Ellis Tucker, born in 1820, spent her life in Richmond sustaining her community during eras of upheaval by offering steadiness and compassion to those in need. She saw families change and land recover, always present with thoughtful care.

Friends and kin recall her thoughtful presence, a memory now honored at Shockoe Hill Cemetery.
