Jane Ross (1810–1879) was a gifted composer and collector of traditional Irish melodies whose work in Limavady preserved the rich musical heritage of Ulster. Keenly attuned to the beauty of local airs, she transcribed and nurtured tunes that might otherwise have been lost.

The enduring popularity of the melody she helped preserve—the tune known widely as "Londonderry Air"—is a testament to her devotion, and her contribution continues to inspire generations who cherish Ireland's musical soul.
