Biography
János Horvay was a sculptor whose monumental works honored the heroes of the 1848–49 revolution and other national figures, employing realism enriched with symbolic detail to convey dignity and collective memory.
He taught younger artists and took part in artistic committees that shaped public sculpture in Hungary, leaving public works that continue to speak for him and resting now at Fiume Road Graveyard.
